COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team battled the 23
rd ranked Regis University Rangers on a rainy, Saturday afternoon. The Mountain Lions hung tough, but eventually fell in four sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set was tightly contested, with the two teams finding themselves knotted at 15 points. A Julia Geiger kill sparked the 6-2 UCCS run, forcing the Rangers to use a timeout. Regis bounced back, scoring six of the next seven points. Halle Theis ended the set with her seventh kill, giving Regis an early 1-0 lead.
- The Rangers got out to a quick 10-0 lead, never trailing in the second set. Regis had a match high .400 attack percentage and blocked six Mountain Lion attacks.
- The third set featured 14 tie scores and seven lead changes. Following a kill by Theis, UCCS found themselves down 20-23. Behind the serves of Mackenzie Ransom, the Mountain Lions rattled off five straight points to take the third set, 25-23. Geiger and Raegan Emery each blocked two attacks, with seven different Mountain Lions recording a kill in the set. UCCS had a team high .367 attack percentage along with posting a sideout percentage of 60 percent.
- Two kills from Geiger and an ace from Joei Barela got UCCS out to a 9-5 lead in the fourth set. The Rangers showed why they are nationally ranked, going on a 13-4 run to put the set out of reach. Regis went on to win the final set, 25-16.
MATCH STATISTICS
- Geiger posted a team high 11 kills, with Emery and Nicole Medlin each adding seven. Geiger hit .500 at the net.
- UCCS dug up 43 attacks, with Ransom leading the way with 12.
- Reilly Babcock set the Mountain Lions up on 30 assists to go with seven digs and three kills.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Theis' 26 kills are the most in a four-set match in the RMAC this season.
- Geiger has now posted double-digit kills with an attack percentage over .500 in back-to-back games.
- Barela, who played in all four sets, served a career high three aces.

- The Mountain Lions will be on the road on Friday, Sept. 16th to take on fourth ranked MSU Denver. The action will start at 7 p.m.
