AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 8 University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team secured their first road victory of the 2022 season as they downed St. Edwards University, 2-1, Wednesday afternoon in Austin, Texas.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountain Lions got it going early, with Makayla Merlo burying a shot in the left side of the net for her first goal of the 2022 season.
- The first half belonged to UCCS, as the Mountain Lions peppered the Hilltoppers defense with nine shots in the first 22 minutes of action. In the 14th minute, sophomore Sydney Lasater took a pass from Abby Barhydt, finding the back of the net to extend the lead to 2-0.
- The Hilltoppers remained persistent in the second half. SEU's Katie Gay found a hole in the Mountain Lion's defense to cut the lead to one in the 72nd minute.
- While a late push tested the backline of the UCCS defense, the Mountain Lions thwarted the Hilltoppers attack to secure their first road win of the season by a final score of 2-1.
STATS FROM THE DAY
- UCCS outshot SEU 13-11, outpacing them in shots on goal (7-5) and corner kicks (6-4).
- Lasater led the Mountain Lions in shots (4) and shots on goal (4). Zoe Sims and Kelsey Takahashi each attempted two shots in the match.
- Alexis Walker tallied four saves in her third straight game in net.
- Jade Kinsey, Lasater, Sims and Annie Louthan played the full 90 minutes.

- With four saves today, Walker moves into 8th all-time in saves in UCCS history (55).
- Lasater's first half goal ties her for the team lead with two. On the same play, Barhydt took the team lead in assists (2).
- UCCS defeated St. Edward's for the second time in as many years, tying their all-time series at 2-2-0.
