COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team got the bats going early in Saturday's double header with a six-run first in game one and another seven runs in game two to complete the four game sweep of the New Mexico Highlands University Cowgirls.

How It Happened | Game One
- The Mountain Lions got off to a fast start in the first inning putting six runs on the board, headlined by a Paige White three-run bomb to left-center field. New Mexico Highlands would counter with a run in each of the next two innings to cut the lead to 6-2.
- UCCS would scratch across another run in the bottom of the fourth inning on a Paige White RBI single to right field. The Cowgirls continued to climb back into the game with two more runs in the top of the fifth inning on a two-run double by Arianna Ramirez. UCCS would get one of those runs back on a Bryn Horton triple in the bottom of the fifth inning to extend the lead to 8-4.
Stats From The Game | Game One
- White's home run was her 10th of the season.
- UCCS outhit NMHU 8-7.
- Braelyne Crenshaw pitched 6.2 innings with four runs allowed (three earned) on seven hits and four walks with nine strikeouts. Lexi Rayburn made her return to the circle getting the final out in the seventh inning.
How It Happened | Game Two
- After a quiet first two innings the Mountain Lions would once again get on the board first with a big bottom of the third inning. After walking in a run, Cassidy Hubner got the big hit with a laser to the wall in right-center field that emptied the bases and grew the lead to 4-0. New Mexico Highlands got one run back in the top of the fifth inning on a ground out.
- UCCS kept the good times rolling in the bottom of the fifth, scoring two runs on a monster shot to right-center field by Hubner which extended the lead to 6-1. Bryn Horton put the exclamation point on her senior day with a diving catch to end the top of the sixth. The Cowgirls hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh, to cut into the lead 7-4.
Stats From The Game | Game Two
- Reisman and Hubner combined for four hits and six RBIs in the game.
- UCCS outhit NMHU 7-6.
- Mackenzie Rutkoff threw a complete game allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.
Beyond The Box Score
- Crenshaw's nine strikeouts moves her to fifth all-time on the UCCS career strikeouts list, passing Taylor Reidhead.
- Reisman's three RBI's give her the team lead in RBIs with 36.
- This was the team's second four-game sweep of the season.
