COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team got caught in a pair of high scoring affairs against the Regis University Rangers that both resulted in extra innings with Regis stealing the first game and
Sawyer Brewster hitting the walk-off in the second game to give the Mountain Lions the double header split.

How It Happened | Game One
- It was a tough start for the Mountain Lions as they gave up four runs in the top of the first primarily due to a three-run home run home run by Allisha Martinez. The Mountain Lions would dig into the lead in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run home run by Brewster that drove in Mia Perez to cut the Rangers lead 4-2 after the first inning.
- The Mountain Lions would continue to claw their way back into the game in the bottom of the third inning as Morgan Hernandez-Belew would drive a double to center field that would bring Bryn Horton home to bring UCCS within one at 4-3. Braelyne Crenshaw was lock down as she retired six of the last seven hitters in the third and fourth innings.
- Crenshaw would work her way out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the fifth inning and kept the Rangers quiet in the sixth and seventh inning. UCCS couldn't get the game winning run across in the seventh inning to bring the game into extra innings. Neither team could break the dam in the eighth inning, but Regis would finally crack the scoreboard on a two-run home run by Rachel Williams to give the Rangers the 6-4 lead.
Stats From The Game | Game One
- Brewster, Horton, and Mia Perez each recorded two hits in the game.
- UCCS and Regis each recorded nine hits.
- Crenshaw hurled all nine innings recording six earned runs on nine hits with five strikeouts. She did throw seven straight shutout innings between the first and ninth inning.
How It Happened | Game Two
- After a clean first two innings for both teams, Regis struck first in the top of the third inning with an RBI double and two-run home run to give them an initial 3-0 lead. The Mountain Lions would hit big in the bottom half of the frame on a monster home run by Brewster way over the left field wall and tie the game at 3-3.
- Regis would answer in the top of the fourth putting up a four spot thanks to a couple of defensive errors that would get the Regis lead up to 7-3. In the bottom of the inning UCCS would scratch away two runs on a sacrifice fly and RBI single that would cut the lead to 7-5 going into the fifth inning.
- UCCS would tie the game in the bottom of the sixth inning with a line drive base hit to center field that drove in two runners to make the score 7-7. Both teams went scoreless in the seventh inning to bring the game to extras for the second consecutive game.
- In the bottom of the eighth inning, Brewster called game with a line drive to left-center field to drive in Hernandez-Belew as the walk-off run in an 8-7 victory.
Stats From The Game | Game Two
- Martinez and Brewster combined to get all of the team's eight RBI's.
- UCCS outhit Regis 12-5 in the game.
- Lexi Rayburn went three plus innings in a starting effort allowing four earned runs on three hits. Gabrielle Cronin struggled in her one inning of work allowing three runs and two walks. Mackenzie Rutkoff pitched four strong innings allowing no runs on only two hits to earn the win.

- Brewster's walk-off was the team's first walk-off hit of the season.
- Today's games were the first two extra innings games of the season.

- The Mountain Lions go on the road to Golden, Colo. for a four-game set against Colorado School of Mines on Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 20. First pitch on the 19th will be at noon.
