COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team took on the #1 ranked MSU Denver Roadrunners on Friday night, falling in three sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UCCS started off the night right, with Joei Barela setting up Raegen Emery for a perfectly executed kill. The opening set featured six ties, until the Roadrunners found their groove, opening the lead up to 15-19. Three aces and 13 kills propelled MSUD to a 1-0 match lead.
- Once again, the Mountain Lions struck first, thanks to a kill courtesy of senior Hannah Ammerman. While UCCS hung tough, it was MSUD who controlled the action with a relentless offensive attack. The Roadrunners attacked at a .412 clip (16 kills), while only committing two attack errors in the second set.
- The third set looked to be getting out of hand early, with MSUD jumping out to a 7-13 lead. A Julia Geiger kill gave service back to the Mountain Lions, which prompted their biggest run of the match. Behind the service of Mackenzie Ransom, UCCS rattled off six straight points, highlighted by two kills from freshman Brooke Leiker to knot the game at 13 apiece. The Mountain Lions kept the set close, finding themselves in a 20-20 tie. Following a Roadrunners timeout, the nation's number one team scored the final five points of the match, taking this one in three sets.
MATCH STATISTICS
- Ammerman recorded a match high 12 kills to go with nine digs. Ammerman also attacked at a team high .345 percent.
- Jordyn Kinsey dug up a team high 11 attacks on the night.
- Reilly Babcock recorded a team high 16 assists as well posting the Mountain Lions lone service ace.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Kinsey continues to inch closer to holding the record for third most digs in program history. She remains 16 digs short of sole possession of third place.
- The Mountain Lions will be playing for the eighth and final spot in the RMAC Championship Tournament tomorrow night.
