HOW IT HAPPENED
- Down early to start the game, UCCS started to roll off a pair of layups from Beni Fungula and William Becker and a three from Logan Bracamonte, to tie the game at 13-13. The Mustangs then responded by going on a 6-0 run, leading 19-13 with 11:36 to go in the half.
- After a few buckets going back and forth between the teams, UCCS cut the Mustangs lead to five (34-29) at the 3:09 mark, after a nice pass from Jon'il Fugett freed UCCS forward, Mac Stodart for a finish at the rim. The Mustangs maintained the lead for 18 minutes of the game, heading into half time with a 38-32 lead.
- The Mountain Lions started the second half on fire, going on a 16-1 run with the help of Fugett, who scored eight points that included two three-pointers in that stretch. MSU then battled back and cut the UCCS lead to three with a 11:53 to go in the game.
- The Mountain Lions managed to get the lead back up to nine with 7:33 left in the game, after Jezza McKenzie hit his second three of the game, getting his 12th and final point of his night in the process.
- The Mustangs fought back again, cutting the lead to just one at the 2:11 mark, until Bracamonte nailed a three assisted by Becker to put UCCS up four and in a good position. After a few Mustangs free throws and a layup, they were forced to foul Bracamonte who iced the game making both free throws resulting in the 72-68 victory.
GAME STATISTICS
- All of Fugett's points tonight came in the second half, going 5-of-7 from the field and 3-of-5 from the three-point line.
- The Mountain Lions won the assist battle against the Mustangs with 18 assists compared to their 11.
- Bracamonte had 14 points off the bench shooting an impressive 4-of-6 from deep, also adding six rebounds.
- UCCS shot it very well from three, going 11-of-26 (42.3 percent) while MSU was cold, shooting 7-of-33 (21.2 percent) from three.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Mountain Lions start the year off hot, winning two games in a row on back-to-back nights after their win against Cameron University on Friday night.
- Head Coach Jeff Culver now holds a 3-0 record against Midwestern University.
- UCCS got some help from their bench tonight with 23 points.
- William Becker records his eighth career game with double-digit rebounds notching a game-high 11 rebounds tonight.

- The Mountain Lions will head to Pueblo, Colo. next as they play in the Al Kaly Shrine Classic, hosted by Colorado State University Pueblo. UCCS opens their slate of games with Bacone College on Nov. 18th at 3 p.m at Massari Arena.
