Gracie Haneborg exploded for 24 points as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team held off the Colorado Christian University Cougars comeback attempt to win a thriller, 68-to-65.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountain Lions used an 11-to-2 run led by five points from Haneborg to get out to a hot start to the game. UCCS took control of the pace in the quarter and came away with the first quarter lead, 17-to-12.
- The Cougars countered in the second quarter with a 17-point quarter themselves. UCCS shot 3-for-16 from the field and had ten turnovers in the quarter. Shelby Megyeri got going and put up six points in the quarter. It wasn't enough, however, as the Cougars went into halftime with a 27-to-25 lead.
- Haneborg takeover mode came in the third quarter where she scored ten of the team's 24 third quarter points. Alexa Dominguez also had a four-point mini run of her own to get the Mountain Lions back on top. The quarter would go back and forth, but ultimately ended with UCCS nursing a three-point lead, 49-to-t46.
- The closing frame was a thriller. Both teams made big shots to keep things close, but UCCS never gave up the lead in the quarter. CCU kept it interesting hitting their second and third three-pointers of the game in the final 20 seconds. Big free throws from Dominguez, Jasmine Jeffcoat, and Megyeri clinched the game for the Mountain Lions.
STATS FROM THE GAME
- Ellie Moore led the Mountain Lions in scoring with 12 points, eight of which came in the second half.
- Dominguez, Bo Schaffer, and Agar Farres tied for the team high in rebounds with eight.
- UCCS out-rebounded CCU 44-35.
- UCCS shot 35.7 percent from the field while CCU shot 40.4 percent.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Haneborg's 24 points was the highest scoring output in a game for a player this season.
- With tonight's win, the Mountain Lions eclipsed their win total through 17 games from last year.
- With the win, Coach Lynn Plett notched his 300th career win with the program.
