COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team started their Texas road trip off in upset fashion as the Mountain Lions take down No. 2 nationally ranked Dallas Baptist University at a final score of 3-1 inside the Sedwick Soccer Field House.

Series: UCCS and DBU are now all even in the all-time series, 1-1-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The opening 45 minutes was a defensive showdown between both teams with UCCS and DBU keeping each other in check and out of goal for the duration of the first half.
• Tarah Patterson rifled off the first and only shot on frame for the Mountain Lions in the first half at 6:53 with UCCS recording five more shots for the rest of the half, including two from
Bri Johnson after she immediately checked into the game.
• Though both teams entered halftime scoreless, it was the Mountain Lions who held the advantage offensively with six shots over the Patriots' three.
• The second half started how the first half ended as UCCS rattled off three shots including a
Tori Maydew shot on goal that got stopped to maintain the scoreless tie.
• In the 73
rd minute, DBU pushed ahead to break the scoreless tie with a go ahead score off the foot of Michelle Gonzalez to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead with 17 minutes remaining in the match.
• Down one score, the Mountain Lions flipped the script and turned it on for the remainder of the game with freshman
Sydney Lasater getting it started with the equalizer just 90 seconds later in the 74
th minute off a Maydew assist.
• The UCCS offense was not yet finished as they pushed forward on the attack once again with Patterson connecting with Johnson who fired in the game winning goal in the 79
th minute to give the Mountain Lions the 2-1 lead.
• After DBU's first score, the Mountain Lions' defense buckled down and pressured the Patriots by only allowing one shot for the remainder of the game. On the other side of the ball, with a 2-1 lead in hand, Patterson and Maydew put the game away as Patterson assisted Maydew for her first goal of the season in the 86th minute and the 3-1 win.
STATS FROM THE DAY:
• UCCS doubled Dallas Baptist's shots 12-6 in the match with the Mountain Lions also holding the advantage in shots on goal (5-2) and corner kicks (6-4).
• The Mountain Lion defense kept the Patriots off-balance as

• Chloe DeShazer improves to 2-1 in frame after notching a save in the win.
• Maydew walks away with a game high three points off an assist and a goal scored.
• Lasater, Johnson, and Patterson each tally two points in the match with Lasater and Johnson recording the equalizer and game winning goal respectively, and Patterson bagging two assists.
• On top of Johnson's game winning goal, she also adds a game high three shots in the contest.
BEYOND THE BOX:

• Wednesday night's win over No. 2 DBU is the program's second win against a top-5 nationally ranked team.
