- Just minutes after the Mountain Lions threatened with a shot by Kolby Raineri that was deflected by the Rockhurst goalkeeper, Macchioni threaded another pass inside to assist Andrews on his second goal of the game and extend the Hawks lead to 2-0 in the 25th minute.
- The Hawks would strike again just two minutes before the half to push their advantage to 3-0 after Chase Klusman headed the ball off of a corner kick into the top right corner of the net just out of the reach of Mountain Lions keeper Andreas Kokoska.
- The Mountain Lions managed to cut into the lead in the 66th minute coming off a Rockhurst foul as Nic Grotle converted a penalty kick to push the score to 3-1.
- Rockhurst would put the game away in the 74th minute when a red card called on Jack Souder set the Hawks up with a successful penalty kick of their own, which proved to be the final goal in a 4-1 defeat for the Mountain Lions.
