HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Saint Martin's opened the scoring in the 28th minute when Diego Andrade fired a shot through the defense into the left side of the net, putting the Saints up 1-0.
- With less than a minute remaining before the end of the first half, midfielder Kolby Raineri broke free from the defense, taking a pass from Komil Khatamov and striking it past Saints goalkeeper Hunter Askland to bring the Mountain Lions even at 1-1.
- The tie game would be short-lived, however, as the Saints would respond less than 25 seconds later, scoring a goal off the foot of Isaac Hernandez to take a 2-1 lead to the half.
- SMU would extend their lead to 3-1 in the 59th minute after a UCCS foul near the goalie box led to a successful penalty kick for the Saints.
- The Mountain Lions began their comeback in the 73rd minute when Raineri managed to corral the ball off a free kick and direct it to Adin Schwenke who punched it into the back of the net to cut the Saint's lead to 3-2.
- Raineri was back at it again less than five minutes later, feeding a pass to Adam Baldwin who found the net for the game-tying goal, 3-3.
- After neither team threatened for the remainder of regulation, the Mountain Lions wasted little time in the first overtime period putting the game away. Luke Sussex threaded a pass to Raineri who placed it into the back of the net for his second score of the night and the deciding goal in a 4-3 victory for the Mountain Lions.
