COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the 17
th straight year and 34
th straight semester, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Department of Athletics notched its 34
th straight semester with at least a 3.00 GPA. The Mountain Lions posted a 3.24 GPA among all 16 varsity programs in the 2021 spring semester.
"The academic accomplishments of our student-athletes is foundational to our success, and I am so proud of our students," said UCCS Executive Director of Athletics
Nathan Gibson. "To see another semester of over a 3.2 department GPA and over 110 student athletes on the President's or Dean's List, along with increasing the competitiveness within our athletic programs, it shows me that we are doing things the right way and have a great group of student athletes. Finally, I want to say thank you to faculty, staff, donors, alumni, etc. and everyone who supports us as you all are critical to our success and continuing to develop students through athletics."
More than 110 student-athletes were named to the President's List (58) and the Dean's List (54). To qualify for these semester honors, students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 graded hours during a regular semester (Fall or Spring). Students who achieve a 4.0 grade point average are placed on the President's List, and students who achieve a 3.75-3.99 grade point average are placed on the Dean's List.
Thirteen programs recorded at least a 3.20 GPA in the spring semester, including four programs with a 3.50 GPA or higher. The top three team GPA's in the department were women's basketball (3.72 GPA), women's cross country (3.68 GPA) and volleyball (3.57 GPA).
