COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball student-athlete Brianna Santos (San Mateo, Calif.) has been named to the 2021 Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-South Central Region First Team as a utility player.  The South Central Region is comprised of institutions from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and Lone Star Conference.
 
In her second year with the Mountain Lions softball program, Santos competed in all 42 games, playing 26 games as a starting outfielder and 16 games as the starting catcher.  Santos finished the season with a .418 batting average, the 13^th highest in the region.  She collected 61 hits on 146 at-bats, scored 41 runs while driving in 45 runs.  She notched 29 extra-bases hits, 14 of which here home runs along with 10 doubles and five triples.  Among 27 schools in the South Central Region, Santos ranks in the top 10 in multiple categories, including third in home runs, home runs per game (0.33), and total bases (123).  She also ranks fifth in triples and slugging percentage (.842) and is tied for sixth in the region for most RBI.
 
Santos tallied 19 multi-hit games, including a season high four hits at New Mexico Highlands when she went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs scored and a triple.  Three of her 14 home runs this season were grand slams, and three home runs came in a single game on May 1 against Colorado State University Pueblo when she led UCCS to a home win with three hits, four RBI and three runs scored. Defensively, Santos registered a .948 fielding percentage behind 97 putouts and 12 assists.
