No. 7 Mountain Lions Wrangle Mavericks 4-0 on Senior Day

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – It was a dominant performance on both sides of the ball as the No. 7 University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team handled the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks in shutout fashion on senior day with a 4-0 win inside Mountain Lion Stadium.

Location: Mountain Lion Stadium | Colorado Springs, Colo.
All-Time Series: UCCS leads the all-time series 6-8-2 against CMU with a current four game win streak.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Mavericks had no answers for the red hot UCCS offense as the Mountain Lions scored a pair of goals in the first and second half.
• An Amelia Junge corner kick positioned Tarah Patterson for a perfectly placed header in the 10th minute as the Mountain Lions jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead off Patterson's first goal of the game.
• Later in the first half, freshman Kelsey Takahashi took advantage of an out of position keeper to land an incredible shot from 25-yards out. The long distance shot landed in the top right corner of the net to send UCCS to a 2-0 lead at 40:33.
• In the second half, Patterson made her second scoring appearance after cutting across the top of the goalie box to bury a left-footed goal in the right side of the net to increase the UCCS lead, 3-0.
• With the last Mountain Lion score, redshirt Tori Maydew was taken down in the box which led to a UCCS penalty kick that was taken by none other than senior Kelsey Lanham. In her final regular season home match, Lanham found the back of the net off of the PK to start the senior day celebration early with the 4-0 lead in the 76th minute.
• Chloe DeShazer and the UCCS backline worked tirelessly from beginning to end as the Mountain Lions' defense locked down the Mavericks for their fourth straight shutout result against CMU.
