DENVER, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team goes down in the series finale against No. 17 Metropolitan State University Denver (MSUD) by a score of 12-7. MSUD took the overall series 3-1.

All-Time Series: MSUD now leads the all-time series with a record of 11-8. UCCS is 5-5 in the last 10 matchups against the Roadrunners.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game got going quickly as both teams were able to score a run in the first inning. UCCS scored off a Jake Anderson single, while MSUD scored off an RBI double to make the score 1-1.
- MSUD answered again in the second inning, scoring four runs off four hits including a solo home run and an RBI-double. The Roadrunners added one in the third as well to make the score 6-1.
- UCCS scored their second run in the fourth inning off a Matt Berg sacrifice fly to left. But MSUD added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth off two hits and two UCCS errors, and two more in the fifth to make the score 11-2.
- UCCS bounced back in the sixth inning with three runs off of two home runs, one from Henry Ryan (2 RBI) and a solo shot from Michael Bennin to make the score 5-11.
- MSUD added their 12th and final run in the seventh. UCCS tried to come back in the final two innings but were only able to plate two runs, one in each inning, to make the final score 12-7 in favor of the Roadrunners.
STATS FROM THE GAME
- UCCS totaled nine hits in the game, including three doubles and two home runs. The Mountain Lions also stole four bases and drew five walks in the game. The Mountain Lion pitching staff totaled 10 strikeouts in the game as well.
- Evan Richards led the team offensively, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored.
- Henry Ryan and Michael Bennin hit the two home runs for UCCS today, with Ryan blasting a two-run home run and Bennin hitting a solo shot. Ryan also led the team in RBI with three.
- Matt Berg drove in two RBI in the game as well.
- Starting pitcher Jonathan Cowles went four complete innings and allowed nine runs (six earned) off 10 hits with six strikeouts.

UCCS is back in action in two weeks as they will take on Colorado Christian University in a four-game series starting on Friday, April 16
th with a double header at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, April 17
th with feature a game at 10 a.m. and Sunday, April 18
th will feature the series finale at 4 p.m.
