LAS VEGAS, N.M. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team scored 19 runs on 20 hits in Sunday's first game at New Mexico Highlands University to claim a 19-1, five-inning win. The Mountain Lions lost the series finale, 7-5, to split the series with the Cowgirls, 2-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME 1
- The Mountain Lions scored 10 of their 19 runs in the fifth inning, one inning after plating six runs in the fourth inning.
- Meghan Waidler scored the first run of the game after hitting a triple before Taylor White batted her home.
- Solana Martinez added two home runs in the third inning off a two-run home run, her ninth home run of the season.
- The Cowgirls solo run in the game came in the fourth inning when Carlee Gonzalez went yard.
- Brianna Santos drove in three of the six runs in the fourth inning off a triple to right centerfield. Solana Martinez hit a single to plate Santos while Taylor White closed the inning with two RBI to bring in Waidler and Martinez.
- Heading into the fifth inning leading 9-1, the Mountain Lions exploded for nine hits and 10 runs to close out game three of the series. UCCS took advantage of a wild pitch, a passed ball, a hit by pitch, eight singles and a double as 14 Mountain Lions batted in the inning.
STATS FROM GAME 1
- Six Mountain Lions recorded multiple hits with Brianna Santos and Solana Martinez leading both teams with four hits each. The duo combined for eight hits on nine plate appearances, six runs and eight RBI.
- Perez followed with three hits, two runs scored and an RBI.
- Waidler, White and Morgan Hernandez-Belew each registered two hits. Waidler and Hernandez-Belew both crossed home plate three times as six Mountain Lions scored at least two runs.
- Braelyne Crenshaw earned her fifth win of the season, pitching the first three innings and holding the Cowgirls to just two hits and no runs. Lexi Rayburn finished game, allowing only one run and two hits. Crenshaw and Rayburn each fanned four batters while allowing one walk each.
HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME 2
- The Mountain Lions put runs on the scoreboard early, scoring four runs in the opening inning of the series finale. Martinez hit a single through the left side to score Santos for the first run of the game. Sawyer Brewster registered her sixth home run of the season with a three-run home run to give UCCS a 4-0 lead after one-half inning of work.
- The Cowgirls responded in the bottom half of the inning, leading off with a home run from Brooklynn DeLozier and added two more runs before the inning was out to cut into UCCS' lead, 4-3.
- NMHU knotted the game at 4-4 in the fifth inning but the tie was quickly broken in the sixth inning when Payton Romines pinched hit and drove in Brewster for the go-ahead run, 5-4.
- For the second time in the series, the Cowgirls made a late comeback, scoring three runs in the sixth inning from DeLozier's three-run home run.
- UCCS was held to one hit and two baserunners in the top of the seventh, falling short to the home team, 7-5.
STATS FROM GAME 2
- Brewster registered three of the Mountain Lions eight hits in the series finale. She went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored.
- Gabrielle Cronin came in relief in the second inning, pitching four and one-third innings and fanning five batters while allowing two earned runs on five hits.

- UCCS will wrap up their regular season at home against Colorado State University Pueblo April 30 and May 1.
