Colorado Springs, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team completes the series sweep of Adams State University (ASU) with a final score of 8-7 in the series finale.

All-Time Series: UCCS now leads the all-time series 12-4. The Mountain Lions have won six straight games in the series.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The series finale proved to be the most exciting game of the series as both teams wanted this win badly.
- UCCS got the ball rolling in the bottom of the second inning with four runs off four hits including an RBI ground-rule double from Walker Rumsey and a two-run blast from Evan Richards, making the score 4-0 UCCS.
- ASU would answer in the top of the fourth with a four-run inning of their own, which included a three-run home run and a walked in run to tie the game at 4-4.
- ASU added another in the fifth off a sacrifice fly and one in the sixth of an RBI single to make the score 6-4.
- However, UCCS refused to let the sweep get away from them as they answered immediately in the bottom of the sixth with another four-run inning, which came off four hits including a three-run double from Richards and an RBI double from Matt McDermott, giving UCCS an 8-6 lead.
- ASU would add one in the seventh to make the score 8-7, but that proved to be the last run scored in the game as UCCS took the finale by a final of 8-7, completing the sweep.
STATS FROM THE GAME
- UCCS totaled 10 hits in the game including five doubles and one home run. Each of the four Mountain Lion pitchers tallied one strikeout in the game.
- Evan Richards had the big day for UCCS, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and his two-run home run, totaling five RBI. His three-run double was the go-ahead hit for the Mountain Lions and proved to be the game winner.
- Micheal Bennin went 2-for-3 on his day, and Matt McDermott, Walker Rumsey and Luis Samorano all tallied one hit and one RBI to help UCCS complete the series sweep.
- Jon Sotto got the start in the game and went 3 2/3 innings, allowing four runs (all earned) off six hits with a strikeout. Joseph Harris came in relief and threw 1 1/3 innings, allowing one run.
- Creede Jeffers was the third Mountain Lion pitcher of the day, going 1 2/3 innings and allowing two runs off four hits with a strikeout. Jeffers would get the win in relief, making his record 1-1 on the season.
- Nate Jenkins came in to close out the game and threw 2 1/3 shutout innings to claim his third save of the season.

UCCS is back in action next weekend as they get set to host Colorado State University Pueblo in a four game series beginning Friday, April 30
th at 3 p.m. inside Mountain Lion Park. Saturday, May 1
st wil feature a double header at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., while the series finale will be played Sunday, May 2
nd at 12 p.m.
