COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado softball team struggled to get momentum offensively during the final two games of the series against Metropolitan State University Denver Sunday afternoon at Mountain Lion Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME 1
- The Mountain Lions started off strong in the first inning holding the Roadrunners to just one hit in the top of the first and Sawyer Brewster crushed a home run to left center bringing in a total of two runs.
- Top of the third is when the Roadrunners came alive. Starting with Shelby Robb hitting a home run to left field brining in the first two runs for the team.
- Kami Grammerstorf hit a double to bring in two more runs, and Kassie Reiger and Grammerstorf were able to take advantage of a fielding error for the final two runs in the third inning.
- MSU Denver defense was on top of it again today, holding the Mountain Lions to just two runs.
- The fourth inning started with Megan Sansburn getting walked and was brought in by Mackenzie Jamieson's double to second.
- The Roadrunners continued the momentum in the fifth inning taking advantage of another fielding error and walk opportunities to score two more runs.
- The final run of the game came in the top of the sixth with Grammerstorf hitting a sacrifice fly to right field brining in Haley Doughty.
STATS FROM GAME ONE
- Cami Duffey pitched four of the six innings and was pitcher of record. Of the 100 pitches thrown only 13 resulted in a hit with two putouts.
- Sawyer Brewster led the team with three assists. She also totaled two RBIs, one hit and one shutout for the game.
- Peyton Riesman added four more putouts to her stats with one assist.
- Taylor White led the team in putouts with six and made contact with the ball once of the two times at bat.
HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME 2
- UCCS received the first run of the game in the bottom of the first with Saleen Quinonez and Solana Martinez getting on base and Meghan Waidler brining in Quinonez with a double to left field.
- MSU Denver responded in the top of the second inning with Kassi Reiger hitting an RBI to bring in Mackenzie Jamieson.
- Kami Grammerstorf followed with her own RBI to bring in Haley Doughty and stole second.
- The Roadrunners took advantage of two fielding errors to bring in two more runs.
- MSU Denver continued making contact with the ball in the top of the third with the first two batters getting on base and Reiger hitting another single to left side to bring in the only run for the inning.
- In the top of the fourth, Rebecca Gonzales hit a double to left field with bases loaded and the Roadrunners brought in three more runs on a fielding error.
- Destinee Lopez proved to be a tough pitcher to face with the Mountain Lions going down three in a row in the bottom of the fourth.
- Ari Valdez had the only home run of the game for the Roadrunners in the top of the fifth.
- The Mountain Lions tried to get something started in the bottom of the fifth with Waidler crushing a double to left center and brining in Quinonez.
- The Roadrunners brought the heat up in the top of the sixth with three runs to end the game.
STATS FROM GAME TWO
- Braelyne Crenshaw pitched the entire six inning game. Crenshaw faced 35 batters and allowed nine hits with six earned runs.
- Brewster led the team in assists totaling three for the game.
- Santos dominated the defense with 10 putouts for the game followed by Peyton Reisman with six.
- Meghan Waidler had three hits off three at bats and tallied the only two RBIs for the game.

The Mountain Lions travel to Grand Junction next weekend, April 17 -18, to take on Colorado Mesa University. First game starts at 12 pm on Saturday, April 17.
