Ricki Rothbauer-Stubbs won her 200
th career game today after the Mountain Lions defeated Chadron State College in extra innings, 9-7.
UCCS and CSC were scheduled to play the final two games of the four-game series on Feb. 27 in Chadron, Neb., but the series was postponed due to weather. The games were played Monday at Mountain Lion Field as UCCS remained the visiting team in the series with the Eagles serving as the home team.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME 1
- After holding the Mountain Lions to three-up, three-down to start the first inning, the Eagles plated two runs off three hits in their first outing at the plate for a 2-0 lead.
- UCCS responded in the second inning, scoring five runs off four hits, three of which were home runs. Payton Romines led off the inning with a single up the middle as Sawyer Brewster tallied her first home run of the season after going yard over the centerfield fence.
- With two outs and the score tied at 2-2, Taylor White gave the Mountain Lions the lead with a single home run for her second dinger of the year. Mia Perez followed White's home run with a walk and was brought home from Brianna Santos' fifth home run this season, giving UCCS a 5-2 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth inning.
- The Eagles matched the Mountain Lions home run count in the bottom of the inning and notched five runs on five hits to re-take the lead 7-5 after two complete innings.
- CSC added to their lead in the third inning after notching one hit and taking advantage of the Mountain Lions three errors to score two runs.
- UCCS cut into the Eagles lead in the top of the fourth inning, 9-7. With runners on second and third base, Saleen Quinonez singled to score Maddie Unrein. The following batter for UCCS, Peyton Reisman, added the second run of the inning with a sac fly to right field, scoring Perez.
- The Mountain Lions were held to one hit in each of their final three innings at-bat as Chadron State added an insurance run in the fifth inning to take the win, 10-7.
STATS FROM GAME ONE
- UCCS recorded 10 hits as a team. Quinonez, Romines and Martinez led the offense with two hits each.
- Perez chipped in two runs from one hit and drawing one walk.
- Gabrielle Cronin started in the circle for UCCS, allowing four earned runs on six hits in the first one and one-third inning. Braelyne Crenshaw closed the game for the Mountain Lions, striking out six batters while allowing two earned runs on seven hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME 2
- Mackenzi Kroll of Chadron State hit a two-run home run in the second inning to put the first runs on the scoreboard in the series finale.
- Perez led off the third inning with a solo shot to centerfield to put the Mountain Lions in the Run column.
- The Mountain Lions posted their first lead of the day over the Eagles with a three-run performance in the fourth inning.
- With only one out and the bases loaded, Perez drew a walk to bring home Solana Martinez, tying the game at 2-2.
- The next batter, Santos, hit a dart to the pitcher to reach first base and score Hernandez for a 3-2 lead.
- One out later and a pitching change for CSC with the bases loaded, Quinonez recorded a RBI from a fielders choice, plating Jacque Ley.
- CSC added a run in the fifth inning, bringing them within one run of the Mountain Lions lead, 4-3.
- The Eagles tacked on extra innings to the game when Kroll hit her second home run of the game, knotting the score at 4-4 after seven complete innings.
- The UCCS bats came alive in the eighth inning as the Mountain Lions scored five runs on six hits.
- Martinez started the inning with a single home run, marking her fourth home run in the last six games.
- Brewster entered the game as a pinch hitter and knocked down a double to left center field. White followed with a double of her own to score Morgan Hernandez-Belew who re-entered the game for Brewster.
- With the bases load, the Eagles recorded the second out of the inning on a force out at home plate, but Reisman drew a walk to bring in Perez followed by Romines' single to score Quinonez and Santos to give UCCS a five-run lead, 9-5.
- The Eagles attacked in the bottom of the inning and added three more runs from a three-run home run off Addison Spears' bat, but the defense held CSC, retiring the next two batters to seal the win, 9-7.
STATS FROM GAME TWO
- Cami Duffey pitched all eight innings, surrendering seven runs on 12 hits and striking out three batters. The win was Duffey's second of the season.
- Martinez led the offense with four hits on five at-bats with two runs and an RBI.
- Perez finished the game going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
- Defensively, Reisman tallied 12 putouts at first base.

In 11 seasons as a head coach, Rothbauer-Stubbs is 200-293 all-time. In the six seasons at the helm for UCCS, she is 109-123 overall.
