Men’s Soccer Defeated in Season Home Opener Against the ThunderWolvdes

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team had their season opener at home today against the Colorado State University Pueblo ThunderWolves and fell 0-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • CSUP came out strong scoring the first goal of the game within two minutes.
  • Liam McGuire took the Mountain Lions first shot on goal 25 minutes through the first half, but the ThunderWolves defense recovered to block it.
  • In a physical match-up UCCS' Alex Andersson drew the first of five yellow cards handed out in the game.
  • Nick Burgess scored another goal for CSUP with only a minute and a half left in the first half, 0-2.
  • Kolby Raineri took the first shot of the second half shooting low center with an easy save by CSUP's goalie.
  • The Mountain Lions were not able to net any of their 11 shots in the second half.
 
STATS FROM THE GAME
  • In a physical home opener, the Mountain Lions finished with 26 fouls called against them to the ThunderWolves' 17.
  • McGuire led the team with six shots playing the full 90 minutes.
