ALAMOSA, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team recorded a series win at Adams State University after sweeping Sunday's games (7-0, 7-2). The Mountain Lions won three of the four games to improve to 11-11 overall and 10-8 in league games.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME 1
- The Mountain Lions used back-to-back doubles in the second inning of game one today to take a 1-0 lead. With two outs, Taylor White stepped to the plate and doubled to left field and scored when the next batter, Maddie Unrein, doubled to right field.
- Both teams were held scoreless in the next three innings before while the Mountain Lions held the Grizzlies quiet on the offensive front. ASU went three-and-out in three of their first four innings while only collecting one hit (second inning).
- UCCS' lead grew to 5-0 after a four-run effort in the sixth inning. Morgan Hernandez-Belew started the offensive output with a double down the left field line. Cambria Jeffers then singled to center field to bring home Hernandez-Belew. Unrein followed suit with a triple to left center field to score White and Jeffers, giving UCCS a 5-0 lead. Before the inning finished, Brianna Santos tallied an RBI when she singled to shortstop to score Unrein for the fourth run of the inning.
- In the final inning at the plate for UCCS, Jeffers singled to right center before being relieved of base-running duties by Taylor Humphries. Humphries took advantage of a wild pitch and moved to second base before Unrein collected her second double of the game to score Humphries. Santos was responsible for the final run when she batted in Unrein from a single through the right side of the field.
STATS FROM GAME ONE
- Three Mountain Lions notched three hits each: Santos, White and Unrein. All three of Unrein's hits were multiple-base hits with two doubles and a triple.
- Unrein finished the game going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. White also plated two runs while Santos batted in two runs.
- UCCS tallied 13 hits and seven RBI while drawing four walks.
- Gabrielle Cronin earned her third win in the circle with a complete game shutout. Cronin fanned three batters and held the Grizzlies to three hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME 2
- UCCS continued the firepower in the series finale, posting seven runs on 11 hits.
- In the top of the second inning, Sawyer Brewster was the first Mountain Lion to reach base as she hit a single to center field. She moved to second base on a wild pitch before rounding third base and scoring from a throwing error by ASU. White boosted the Mountain Lions lead to 2-0 when she scored on Santos' single to close out the second inning.
- Pitcher Cami Duffey and the UCCS defense kept the Grizzlies in check for the first four innings, holding ASU to only one hit and two base runners.
- Santos led off the fifth inning with a triple to left field. The next batter, Mia Perez, drew a walk to put runners on the corners but quickly stole second base while Santos scored on a throwing error in the same sequence. Hernandez-Belew drove in Perez from a single to lift UCCS to a 4-0 lead after five and one-half innings.
- The Grizzlies prevented their second straight shutout by adding two runs on the scoreboard off one hit in the fifth inning.
- Leading 4-1 to start the seventh inning, Peyton Reisman, Herenadez-Belew and Brewster notched a single, triple and double, respectively, to score three runs on three hits to seal the win, 7-2.
STATS FROM GAME TWO
- Cami Duffey pitched all seven innings, surrendering only one earned run on five hits with one strikeout.
- Hernandez-Belew and Brewster each recorded three hits and a run scored.
- Four Mountain Lions posted an RBI behind Hernandez-Belew's game high two RBI.
