DENVER, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team lost the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opener Saturday afternoon at No. 12 Regis University, 17-8.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The 12th-ranked team in Division II took a 12-2 lead in the first half of action. The Rangers' Andrea Macalalad scored the first goal of the game just 40 seconds from the first draw, but the Mountain Lions quickly tied the game 27 seconds later when Natalie Church found Kiera Lowe for her 10th goal of the season.
- The Rangers would go on to score the next eight goals before Miranda Smith cut into the RU lead, 9-2, with 7:11 left in the first half. The Rangers finished the half scoring three straight goals for a 12-2 lead at intermission.
- The second half faired better for UCCS as they put six goals in the back of the net. After Macalalad scored her third goal of the game, the Mountain Lions strung together five straight goals from Aliyah Weant, Church, Naughton (back-to-back goals) and Corrigan.
- Trailing by six goals, 13-7, with 6:20 left in regulation, the Mountain Lions deficit grew larger as the Rangers outscored UCCS, 4-1, to close out the game.
STATS FROM THE GAME
- UCCS outscored the Rangers in the second half, 6-5.
- The Mountain Lions fired off 11 shots in each half as Regis combined for 35 shots. Eighteen of UCCS' shots landed on goal.
- Seven Mountain Lions found the back of the net as Naughton led the offense with two goals and five shots.
- Napp added one goal and one assist with three caused turnovers, two ground balls and one shot.
- Lowe added another goal and assist while firing off four shots and picking up three ground balls. Church was one of five players to tally two points for UCCS (one goal, one assist). She also accounted for three of the Mountain Lions four draw controls.
- Madison McGriff started in goal and made two saves while allowing nine goals in 18 minutes of action. Kennedy Travis closed the game with eight saves and eight goals allowed.
- The Rangers Kyleigh Peoples scored a game high eight points with five goals and three assists. She and Macalaland combined for nine of the Rangers 17 goals.
