PUEBLO, Colo. – The No. 11 University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team shuts out Colorado State University Pueblo at a final score of 2-0 for the Mountain Lions' first road win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• UCCS drew the first offensive pressure with
Ella Fischer and
Tori Maydew landing a shot on net in the first 12 minutes of play, leaving the score 0-0.
• CSUP flipped the field in the 19
th minute to land a shot on frame but junior
Chloe DeShazer recorded her one and only save of the match to keep the scoreless tie.
• Three minutes later it was junior
Amelia Junge who got the Mountain Lions on the board as she received a cross from
Makayla Merlo to bury the ball in net for the 1-0 lead at the 22
nd minute.
• From that point on in the first half the UCCS backline continued to contain the ThunderWolves offense by not allowing a single shot as they entered halftime with the 1-0 lead.
• The start of the second half was all UCCS as the Mountain Lions recorded three straight shots before Merlo found the back of the net in the 57
th minute with
Tarah Patterson and
Makenna Fowler registering the double assist.
• With the 2-0 lead in hand the Mountain Lions went to work defensively by not allowing a shot on goal in the second half and only giving up six shots as DeShazer notched her first win in frame.

• The Mountain Lions outshot the ThunderWolves 18-8 in the contest with 11 of UCCS' shots landing on goal.
• UCCS' backline stayed aggressive by allowing just one CSUP shot on goal and recording the team's first shutout of the season.
