HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Chadron State's only lead came on the first bucket of the game, 2-0.  UCCS quickly went on a 12-0 run after making all five field goal attempts, including 2-for-2 from behind the arc. Jessica Nation started the run with a three-pointer while Anna Davern chipped in two layups for four points as part of the 12-0 run.
  • For the third time in the last two games, Maddie Golla ended a quarter by draining a three-pointer.  Golla scored the final basket of the first quarter with a trey and only 44 seconds left to give UCCS a 22-13 lead.
  • Neither team shot well in the second stanza as both the Mountain Lions and Eagles combined to score 15 points.
  • After three and a half minutes of scoreless action to start the second quarter, Feickert made a layup to boost the lead to 24-13.  Nation's last second layup in the half gave the Mountain Lions a 29-21 lead at halftime.
  • The Eagles came out of the locker room and took control of the first five minutes of the third quarter, outscoring UCCS 10-4.  Jori Peters of CSC made two three-pointers and Ashayla Powers added two field goals to bring the Eagles within two points of UCCS, 33-31.
  • The Mountain Lions responded and grabbed the reigns from the Eagles. In the final 15 minutes of the game, UCCS scored 32 points while holding CSC to only 10.
  • In the final five minutes of the third quarter, seven different Mountain Lions put points on the scoreboard as UCCS outscored Chadron State, 16-4.
  • The Mountain Lions started the fourth quarter with a 14-point lead, 49-35, and nearly doubled their lead in the final 10 minutes of play.
  • UCCS' defense held the Eagles to only six points in the final quarter and nearly seven straight minutes without scoring a point.
  • Powers made two free throws for the Eagles just 41 seconds into the fourth quarter.  The Mountain Lions defense wouldn't allow a made field goal by Chadron State until the 2:15 mark as CSC was held to 2-of-8 field goals in the quarter.
  • UCCS used an 11-4 rebounding advantage to score four second chance points and dominate the paint, outscoring CSC, 12-4, in the last stanza.
