CHADRON, Neb. – Playing in their first overtime game of the season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team fell in double overtime on the road to Chadron State College, 82-77, inside Chicoine Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jasmine Jeffcoat found a drive Jessica Nation for the first bucket of the game to give UCCS a quick 2-0 lead. Samiyah Worrell answered for the Eagles with her first three-pointer of the afternoon, giving the home team a 3-2 advantage. Both teams went back and forth before Ellie Moore hit a basket with just 25 seconds left in the opening stanza and five seconds left on the shot clock to knot the game at 13-13. The Eagles had one more trip down the floor to take their fifth lead of the quarter, but Shelby Megyeri stole the ball with one second left to keep the game tied.
- The first 10 minutes between the Eagles and Mountain Lions featured seven lead changes and the score tied eight times.
- The second quarter swung the Mountain Lions way as they scored the first seven points of the quarter and never lost the lead. Ines Latapia drained a three-pointer for a 16-13 UCCS lead, followed by back-to-back layups from Maison White and Megyeri.
- The Eagles netted their first points of the quarter from a layup and two free throws to cut into UCCS' lead, 20-17, but the Mountain Lions kept CSC in check. Moore gave UCCS their largest lead of the game, 27-20, after scoring her sixth point, but Worrell responded with another three for the last bucket before halftime as UCCS went into intermission with a 27-23 lead.
- Moore and McClain Walker came off the bench to lead the Mountain Lions in scoring with six points each. Walker accounted for two of UCCS' three three-point field goals as she went 2-for-2 in the half.
- Chadron State came out of halftime to outscore the Mountain Lions in the third quarter, 20-12. The Eagles' Ashayla Powers led CSC on a 9-2 run to open the second half, scoring all nine of CSC's points behind 3-of-4 field goals and 3-of-3 free throws in just over two minutes of action, tying the game at 29-all.
- After a UCCS timeout, Agar Farres hit her first bucket of the game which came from three-point land, followed by a layup from White for a 34-32 UCCS lead. The Eagles ended the third quarter on an 11-5 run, holding UCCS to just one field goal and four free throw attempts to take a four-point advantage, 43-39, heading into the fourth quarter.
- Both teams continued to battle back and forth in the final 10 minutes of regulation, exchanging the lead six times, including four ties. UCCS rallied in the final seconds of the game to force overtime. Trailing by five points, 66-61, with just 15 ticks left on the clock, Nation drained a huge three-pointer to bring UCCS within two points. After Chadron State called a 30-second timeout, Nation stole the ball on the in-bounds pass and found Jeffcoat who was fouled in the paint with just three seconds left. Jeffcoat hit both free throws to knot the game at 66-66 and force overtime.
- In the first of two overtimes, Megyeri's layup with 2:17 left gave the Mountain Lions a 73-71 lead, but it also proved to be the last points of the extra period for UCCS as CSC made two free throws with :15 seconds left to send the game to a second overtime period, 73-73. The Eagles scored all seven of their points in the first overtime from the charity stripe as UCCS attempted two free throws.
- In the second overtime period, Jeffcoat scooped up a missed jumper from Nation which led to a bucket from Sophie Abela for a 75-73 UCCS lead. CSC retook the lead, 77-75, after netting back-to-back jumpers before Abela drained shot in the paint to knot the game at 77-77 with 35 seconds left on the clock. Worrell responded for Chadron State and sank her sixth three-pointer of the game at 00:16. After a missed three-pointer by UCCS, Worrell drew a foul with one second left and hit both free throws to seal the win for CSC, 82-77.
GAME STATISTICS
- Megyeri led five Mountain Lions in double figures as she netted a team high 12 points after making 5-of-13 field goals, 1-of-6 three-point field goals and 1-of-2 free throws. She also added a game high six steals to go with her two rebounds and blocked shot.
- Nine of Nation's 11 points came from downtown where she hit 3-of-5. She was one of five Mountain Lions to block a shot and she tallied three rebounds and an assist.
- Moore, Walker and White each came off the bench to score 10 points. Moore registered a game high three blocks and also brought down three rebounds.
- Abela dished out a game high 10 assists as she chipped in six points, four rebounds and an assist.
- Jeffcoat and Farres led both teams with seven rebounds.
- The Mountain Lions finished the game shooting 43.5 percent from the floor (30-of-69), 39.1 percent from three-point range (9-of-23) and 57.1 percent from the charity stripe (8-of-14).
- UCCS was on fire in the second and fourth quarters, shooting 66.7 percent (6-of-9) and 60 percent (9-of-15), from the floor, respectively.
- UCCS out-rebounded the Eagles, 45-42, and out-scored CSC in the paint, 38-22, and from the bench, 39-15.
- Worrell led all players with 29 points, including 18 from three-point range and another nine points from the free throw line.
- Today's game featured 19 lead changes and 12 times the score was tied.
- Chadron State attempted 21 more free throws than the Mountain Lions (35-14).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Mountain Lions recorded multiple team and individual season highs today, including field goals made (30), three-point field goals made (nine), three-point field goals attempted (23), assists (22) and blocks (seven).
- The nine made three-pointers more than doubled their previous season high (four).
- Nation's three treys tonight are the most by a Mountain Lion this season and a career high.
- Abela's 10 assists marked a season high for UCCS, a career high for Abela, and the second most assists in program history.
- Megyeri's six steals are a career high and the most steals this season by UCCS.
- Farres registered career highs in three-point field goals made (two) and attempted (four).
- Today's overtime game was the first time UCCS played extra time since Feb. 6, 2021 when they defeated Fort Lewis College at home in double overtime, 85-83.
