COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - In a closely contested game Texas A&M-Kingsville outlasted the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team drops the home opener 59-57.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • UCCS got off to a strong start in the first quarter leading TAMUK 14-12. Jasmine Jeffcoat got UCCS going early as she scored the first 4 of UCCS' points.
  • UCCS expanded the lead to eight with 47 seconds left in the second quarter with a steal by Shelby Megyeri and a three-pointer from Sophie Abela.
  • UCCS got their big lead of the game with 7:08 left in the third quarter thanks to another bucket from Abela.
  • The fourth quarter got interesting as TAMUK pushed back tying the game twice. With .8 seconds left TAMUK forward Georgia Ohiaeri hit the game winning basket.
STATS FROM THE GAME
  • UCCS shot a season high 47.1% (24-51) from the field.
  • Jeffcoat led all scores in the game with 19 points.
  • Jeffcoat and Maison White dominated in the paint combining for 31 points.
