LAWTON, Okla.– The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team was plagued by turnovers Saturday evening in Lawton, Okla. as they suffered an 80-54 setback to Cameron University. UCCS committed 33 turnovers which led to 33 points for the Aggies.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Two minutes into the start of the game the Aggies took a 5-0 lead they would not relinquish. Jasmine Jeffcoat scooped up an offensive rebound after her initial shot was blocked and put the ball in the cylinder to get the Mountain Lions on the scoreboard, 5-2. Shelby Megyeri brought UCCS within two points after draining a three-pointer to cut into Cameron's lead, 11-9. From there, the Aggies outscored UCCS 7-2 to close out the first stanza and take an 18-11 lead.
- CU kept the momentum going in the second quarter going on an 8-3 run by the first media timeout. Jessica Nation made an old-fashioned three-pointer to halt CU's run. The Aggies caught fire near the end of the second stanza, draining four three-pointers in the final two minutes to extend their lead to 23 points at the half, 49-26.
- A 12-0 run by the Aggies in the third quarter over a four-minute span boosted their lead to 33 points, 64-31. UCCS fought back to outscore CU, 10-3, in the final minutes of the third stanza after four straight free throws from Sophie Abela and Nation, followed by baskets from Nation, White and Jeffcoat to end the third quarter in favor of CU, 69-42.
- The Mountain Lions kept within range of the Aggies in the second half, out-rebounding CU 28-20 while scoring 10 second chance points, but UCCS turned the ball over 18 times that led to 16 of CU's 31 second half points.
GAME STATISTICS
- Maison White came off the bench to lead UCCS in scoring with 12 points. White made 6-of-8 from the floor and added eight rebounds and three blocks.
- Shelby Megyeri also scored in double figures with 11 points. Megyeri shot the ball 20 times and landed four in the hoop while making 1-of-8 from long range.
- Agar Farres led both teams with 10 rebounds to go with her three points, two assists and blocked shot.
- The Mountain Lions landed 20-of-57 field goals for 35.1 percent but were cold from long range, sinking only 1-of-15 (6.7 percent) and 52 percent from the free throw line (13-of-25).
- UCCS outscored the Aggies in the paint (32-16), second chance points (16-6), and points from the bench (17-11).
- CU's Maighan Hedge led all scorers with 29 points behind 10-of-16 field goals, three treys and six free throws.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- After the opening weekend of the season, freshman Maison White has come off the bench to lead UCCS in scoring (24 points), rebounds (17) and blocks (five).
- Newcomer Sophie Abela has dished out a team high 12 assists while Ines Latapia has snagged a team high eight steals in two games.
- Head coach Lynn Plett is six wins away from reaching 300 career wins.

- The Mountain Lions will open their home season on Friday, Nov. 19 against Texas A&M-Kingsville at 5:30 p.m., followed by a non-conference game on Sunday at 2 p.m. against Regis University.
