COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 setback against Colorado Mesa University on Sunday afternoon at Mountain Lion Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a tightly contested start to the match, Colorado Mesa broke through the Mountain Lion's defense to score a pair of goals in the 39th and 40th minutes to jump ahead 2-0. After a goal from Colton Shafer broke the scoreless tie, the Mavericks came back less than 30 seconds later to score again when midfielder David Peters headed the ball into the net off a pass from forward Joey Joiner.
- CMU would breathe life into the Mountain Lions in the 54th minute when sophomore Alex Andersson drew a yellow card in the penalty box as he was tripped while streaking towards the net with the ball. He would convert the penalty kick to cut the Mavericks lead to 2-1.
- In the 76th minute, Mavericks forward Fernando Morales sent a cross to teammate Daisuke Takanaka who finished at the net for the goal to push CMU's lead to 3-1.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- The penalty kick goal for reigning RMAC Freshman of the Year Alex Andersson was his third of the season. He has now scored a goal in each of the three games he has played this season after returning from injury.
