CHADRON, Neb. – It took just three sets for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team to take down Chadron State College Friday night inside Chicoine Center in Chadron, Neb. (25-15, 25-23, 25-15).

HOW IT HAPPENED
Grace Ferguson put down a kill in the opening set that gave UCCS a 12-11 lead they would not relinquish. After Ferguson's kill, the Mountain Lions closed the game outscoring CSC, 13-4.
Hannah Ammerman led the charge with three kills and an ace during the 13-4 run as the Mountain Lions used seven kills, two aces, a block and forced the Eagles to commit three attack errors to seal the win. Ammerman finished the set with eight kills on nine attempts (no errors) for a staggering .889 hitting percentage.
The momentum shifted to start the second set as the Eagles jumped to a 4-0 lead. The Mountain Lions regained the momentum to take a 5-4 lead after Ammerman (two kills),
Madison McIntosh, and
Raegen Emery tallied kills to tie the set, 4-4, before taking the lead, 5-4, on a CSC attacking error. UCCS never trailed the remainder of the set but the Eagles kept within striking distance. After a successful challenge by the Eagles that would reverse the score and bring CSC within one point of set match, 24-23,
Lauryn Shockley put the set away with a kill, giving UCCS a 2-0 lead in the match.
The third set belonged to the Mountain Lions as they hit .500 in the set with 19 kills on 34 attempts and only two errors.
Maren Burkhart, Shockley and
Camden Strain each accounted for four kills while
Emily Ettel set up 15 of the Mountain Lions 18 assists.
MATCH STATISTICS
Ammerman led all players with 16 kills and finished the match hitting .481 on 27 attacks and three errors. She added an ace, nine digs and a block assist.
Shockley added a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs while hitting .400. Strain chipped in eight kills and a .538 hitting mark to lead all players.
Ettel posted 44 assists, four digs and six kills.
As a team, UCCS registered 57 kills, 50 digs, four blocks and hit .403.
The Eagles were led by Rylee Greiman's nine kills.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
McIntosh posted career highs in kills (two) and attacks (three).
Katelyn McMoore's two blocks (block assists) were career highs while Strain hit a career high .538.
UCCS recorded multiple season highs for a three-set match, including kills (57), attempts (119), assists (50), and digs (50). The Mountain Lions also hit a season high (.403).
Individually, Ammerman posted a season high in kills (16), attempts (27) and points (17.5) for a three-set match, while Ettel's 44 assists and
Jordyn Kinsey's 14 digs were season highs for a three-set match.
Tonight's sweep was the first sweep by UCCS in a league match, and their first sweep since Sept. 3, 2021 against Minot State.
The Mountain Lions have swept the Eagles 16 times since the series began in 1989.
UCCS' win tonight was their second straight victory, marking the first time since Sept. 10, 2021 they have won back-to-back matches.
