Hinkle Nets Two in 4-1 Win Over ASU

ALAMOSA, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer downs Adams State University at a final score of 4-1 on Sunday as Kaitlin Hinkle registers her fourth career brace in the win.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: UCCS 4, ASU 1
Records: UCCS (12-3, 7-2 RMAC), ASU (1-10-2, 0-7-2 RMAC)
Location: ASU Soccer/Lacrosse Field| Alamosa, Colo.
Series: UCCS extends their win streak to five games against ASU as the Mountain Lions hold a 10-4-3 all-time record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The high scoring Mountain Lion offense scored twice in under a minute at the halfway mark in the first half as an Ella Fischer shot off-target led to a string of UCCS corner kicks that resulted in the first score. Redshirt senior Tori Maydew received the corner inside the box where she chipped to it to the opposite side for a wide open Hinkle who threaded an impressive shot from a few yards out for the 1-0 UCCS lead.
Just 42 seconds later at the 23:12 mark, the Mountain Lions quickly claimed possession off the kickoff as Makayla Merlo provided a through ball on the left sideline where Amelia Junge gathered and made an out of frame Ashley Beers miss for a perfect pass to Abby Barhydt who finished it off for the 2-0 advantage.
• With the 2-0 lead in hand and coming out of halftime, Hinkle set the tone right out of the gate with an incredible defensive play and offensive sequence that led to UCCS' third score at 45:22. A pressuring Hinkle dispossessed the Grizzlies near midfield as she went on the attack to send a shot from the right side of the box to the inside of the left post for her second goal of the game.
• In the 52nd minute, UCCS tacked on their fourth score after Merlo got taken down in the box to setup a penalty kick that the redshirt freshman successfully buried to extend the Mountain Lion lead.
• Later in the second half, Adam State's Emily Chamberlain gave the Grizzlies their first and only score of the match in the 85th minute but the Mountain Lions still held on for the win, 4-1.

STATS FROM THE DAY:
Kaitlin Hinkle finished with a perfect offensive stat line in the win as she netted both of her goals off of two shots and two shots on goal.
• Hinkle was joined by the freshman duo of Jadyn LeDoux and Sydney Lasater who each recorded a game high two shots.
UCCS outshot ASU 12-6 in the contest as the Mountain Lions limited the Grizzlies to two shots on goal.
Five Mountain Lions tally at least one point in the match with Tory Maydew and Amelia Junge recording an assist, along with Hinkle, Abby Barhydt, and Makayla Merlo who all found the back of the net.
Chloe DeShazer claims the win in frame after bagging one save and allowing one goal.
