HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Mountain Lions came out of the gate on the attack and held possession for the majority of the first half of the game. They applied pressure on the Cougar defense which led to multiple opportunities including a total of seven corner kicks in the first half. While the chances were abundant, the Mountain Lions were held off the scoreboard going into halftime.
- The first 30 minutes of the second half told a similar story, as both the Mountain Lion and Cougar defenses were able to shut down their opponent. That all changed in the 75th minute when Alex Andersson took a shot off a free kick that took a beautiful curve and found the net in top left corner of the goal.
- As time was winding down, the Mountain Lions stayed on the attack as Adam Baldwin was able to weave through the Cougar defense and found Luka Cecic for a one-on-one matchup 20 yards in front of the goal. Cecic made a move towards the middle before taking a right-foot shot that froze the goalkeeper and propelled the Mountain Lions to a 2-0 lead in the 85th minute.
