HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mavericks scored the first five points of the game, but the Mountain Lions responded to knot the game at 9-9 and take a two-point lead, 11-9, when
Anna Davern scored a basket-and-one, followed by a field goal from
Bo Shaffer to cap off a 5-0 run.
The Mountain Lions shot a solid 54.5 percent in the first half behind 12-of-22 field goals and they drained all nine free throw attempts.
UCCS cooled off in the second half as they were held to four field goals (4-of-19), three of which came in the third quarter. Six of the Mountain Lions eight points in the final stanza came from the free throw line.
STATS FROM THE GAME
UCCS finished the game making 16-of-41 field goals (39 percent) and 22-of-23 free throws for 95.7 percent. The Mountain Lions were outrebounded, 34-29. CMU took advantage of 24 UCCS turnovers and turned them into 34 points.
Abby Feickert made 5-of-7 field goals in the first half for 12 points as she finished the game scoring a season high 16 points.
Kaity Hovasse pulled in a season high seven rebounds, all of which were on the defensive end of the court.
Ellie Moore snagged three of the Mountain Lions six steals.
Anna Davern chipped in nine points and made all five free throw attempts.
Four Mavericks scored in double figures behind Daniella Turner's game high 20 points. Kelsey Siemons added 14 points and eight rebounds.
UP NEXT
The Mountain Lions are scheduled to play host to Regis University on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 5:30 p.m. Fans are not permitted in Gallogly Events Center for home events this year.
