Nine Mountain Lions Named to RMAC All-Academic Softball Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Peyton Reisman (Fort Collins, Colo.) led a pack of nine University of Colorado Colorado Springs student-athletes on the 2020 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, announced this morning by the conference office.  Reisman was voted to the RMAC All-Academic First Team while Sawyer Brewster (Burnsville, Minn.), Shae Bushey (Vail, Ariz.), Alex Cook (Phoenix, Ariz.), Braelyne Crenshaw (Aurora, Colo.), Cami Duffey (Heath, Texas), Saleen Quinonez (Bryan Texas), Payton Romines (Panama City, Fla.), and Kaley Wagner (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) were named to the Honor Roll.
 
Senior Hailey Hinson of Colorado Mesa University has been named the 2020 Softball Academic Player of the Year. Hinson headlines the 89 honorees for the 2020 RMAC All-Academic team.  Hinson, along with the other First Team All-Academic members, were voted on by the conference's sports information directors. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must carry a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and must have been an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters.  Due to the shortened season, first team nominations and voting included the student-athletes career statistics.
 
First baseman Peyton Reisman has started all but two of the 68 games she has played in.  The sophomore is batting .346 in two seasons with 71 hits, 33 runs, 23 doubles, 10 home runs and she has driven in 42 runs.  Six of her 10 home runs came in 2020 in just 22 games played, while eight of her nine walks were drawn in her freshman campaign.  Reisman, who owns a 3.984 GPA in Inclusive Elementary, is near perfect in the field with 407 putouts, three assists and only two errors.
 
A sophomore infielder, Sawyer Brewster saw action in eight games this season, collecting one hit and one putout. In her freshman campaign, she tallied 24 hits, drove in 22 runs, scored 17 times and hit seven home runs and three doubles while posting a .320 batting average in 39 games.  Brewster is majoring in Criminal Justice and owns a 3.891 GPA.
 
In two years with the Mountain Lions softball program, Shae Bushey saw action in 16 games.  A junior majoring in Business Management with a 3.517 GPA, Bushey notched seven hits, two doubles, two walks, two RBI and scored one run. She was errorless in the field on 21 chances (17 putouts, four assists).
 
A four-year member of the Mountain Lions softball team, Alex Cook (3.503 GPA, Exercise Science) is making her second straight appearance on the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll team.  In four years in a UCCS uniform, Cook played in 131 games, starting nearly every game (126).  The outfielder collected a .312 batting average behind 133 hits, 86 RBI, 90 runs scored, 25 doubles, four triples and 16 home runs.  She drew 21 walks and stepped on 213 bases.  Defensively, she earned a .944 fielding percentage in the outfield. Cook, who was named to the 2019 RMAC Honorable Mention team, is an Exercise Science major with a 3.503 GPA.
 
Sophomore pitcher Braelyne Crenshaw (3.598 GPA, University Studies) has started 25 games and appeared in 45 games in two seasons at UCCS.  She has collected 15 career wins, seven of which came in the 2020 season.  In 174 innings pitched, Crenshaw has allowed 114 earned runs on 229 hits and struck 44 batters and owns a 4.58 ERA.
 
A Marketing major with a 3.546 GPA, Cami Duffey has pitched in 65 games for the Mountain Lions over the past three seasons and has started 53 games.  She owns a 21-25 record and a 5.80 ERA.  Duffey, who notched 12 wins in 2018, has pitched 268.1 innings and fanned nearly 120 batters.  Duffey is making her second straight appearance on the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.
 
Making her second appearance on the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll, junior infielder Saleen Quinonez has notched 78 starts and played in 98 games in three seasons for the Mountain Lions.  A Sport Management major with a 3.578 GPA, Quinonez has accounted for 31 career hits, 41 runs, 21 RBI, three doubles and a 91.8 fielding percentage (116 putouts, 63 assists).
 
Junior infielder Payton Romines has played two seasons for the Mountain Lions, starting all 70 games she has competed in.  She has registered 53 hits and a .277 batting average while scoring 37 runs and driving in 45.  Twenty-four of her runs have been extra base hits (11 doubles, 11 home runs, two triples), and she has drawn 36 walks.  Defensively in the field, Romines has posted 78 putouts and assisted on 141.  She is a Nursing major with a 3.673 GPA.
 
One of four Mountain Lions to make their second appearance on the RMAC Academic Honor Roll, Kaley Wagner is a Nursing major with a 3.986 GPA.  She has seen action 11 games, collecting two hits and scoring three runs.
 
The Mountain Lions 2020 season, which was cut short due to COVID-19, ended with a 10-13 record and a 6-6 mark in league games.  UCCS finished the season winning six of the last nine games.
