Becker, Wang Sweep RMAC Player of the Week Awards

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs redshirt-freshman William Becker (Aurora, Colo.) and senior Padiet Wang (Aurora, Colo.) have been voted this week's Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Players of the Week.  Becker was tabbed the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week, marking his first Player of the Week award the season. Wang, who was tabbed twice as the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week in the beginning of the season, has been selected as this week's RMAC Offensive Player of the Week.
 
A 6-foot-9 forward, William Becker nearly averaged a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds per game as the Mountain Lions charted two home wins this past weekend over New Mexico Highlands University (95-85) and Colorado State University-Pueblo (86-72).  Becker blocked four shots and snagged four steals in the two wins.  Against the ThunderWolves on Saturday, he tallied three blocks and three steals while adding 16 points and eight rebounds.  In Friday's win over NMHU, Becker recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds to go with a blocked shot and steal.
 
In 19 games played this season, Becker is averaging 6.9 points and 6.8 rebounds and has tallied 29 blocks and 17 steals.
 
Padiet Wang, who was named to the 2019-20 RMAC All-Academic First Team earlier today, averaged 25.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game while shooting an impressive 66.7 percent from the floor (20-of-30).  On Friday against the Cowboys, Wang tallied 21 points, six assists, four rebounds, two steals and blocked one shot while making 8-of-15 from the floor and 4-of-6 from the free throw line.  The next night over the Pack, he scored a career high 30 points after making 12-of-15 from the floor, 2-of-3 three-point field goals, and 4-of-6 free throws.
 
Wang has started all 20 games this season and is averaging 16.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 20 steals per game while shooting nearly 50 percent from the floor (114-of-228). 
 
UCCS begins a four-game road trip Feb. 7-8 at MSU Denver and Chadron State College. The Mountain Lions are currently tied for fourth in the league standings with a 9-6 record (13-7 overall).
