UCCS Comes Up Short on Senior Night, 57-74

Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team falls short on Senior Night to Colorado School of Mines by a final score of 57-74. That brings the Mountain Lions' regular season record to 17-10 overall and 13-9 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).

UCCS finished the game shooting 41.8 percent from the field (23-55FG) and 27.8 percent from the three-point line (5-18 3PT). Mines finished the game shooting 47.3 percent from the floor and 44.4 percent from three. The Orediggers also outrebounded UCCS 36-28 in the game.

Alijah Comithier led the team in scoring with 14 points, followed by Ed Bourke with 12 points and Padiet Wang with 10 points and four rebounds. Parker Gaddis hauled in a team high six rebounds and added eight points to the UCCS total, while Blend Avdili tallied a team high four assists to go along with his eight points. Wang also recorded one steal, which gives him sole possession of the most steal in UCCS history with 151.

The first half featured some good defense from both teams as neither finished the half with more than 40 points. UCCS shot 40 percent from the field while Mines shot 48 percent. That eight percent amounted to a 12-point deficit for UCCS as the entered to locker room trailing 25-37.

In the second half, UCCS was able to cut the lead to six-points, but the Orediggers refused to relinquish the lead as they drove the lead right back up 12 within the two minutes of play. UCCS struggled to keep the game close as Mines built as much as a 22-point lead late in the second half. The Mountain Lions could not mount one final run as they fell on Senior Night.

UCCS has qualified for the RMAC Postseason Tournament and will be back in action this coming Tuesday, March 3.
