ST. PAUL, Minn. – Playing their first game of the 2020 season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team lost a 17-2 decision Thursday evening at Concordia University-St. Paul. The game marked the season opener for both programs.
The Golden Bears jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first five minutes of play. UCCS put a goal on the scoreboard when

th minute to cut into CSP's 8-1 lead.
UCCS was held scoreless the rest of the first half as the Golden Bears took a 13-1 lead at halftime.
After a red card was assessed to the Mountain Lions with 50 seconds left in the first half, UCCS came out of halftime and quickly found the back when
Madison Ellis scored just less than a minute into the half.
The Golden Bears defense restricted UCCS to only more shot attempt the remainder of the game.
The Mountain Lions were outshot, 37-10 (31-7 shots on goal) and picked up 23 ground balls to the Golden Bears 29. UCCS won seven of the 20 draw controls and forced CSP to commit 18 turnovers.
Napp,
Sydney Malcolm and Naughton each attempted two shots as both of Napp's shots landed on goal.
Natalie Church picked up a team high four ground balls while Napp won three of the team's seven draw controls.
Kennedy Travis made 13 saves while allowing 11 goals.
Madison McGriff saw her first action for the Mountain Lions, recording one save.
UCCS will play next on Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. (MT) against Rockhurst University in the CSP Dome.
