Mountain Lions Storm Back to Defeat Cougars in Five

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After losing the first two sets, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team (3-7, 1-1 RMAC) stormed back to defeat the Colorado Christian University Cougars (4-6, 0-2 RMAC).  It was a slow start for the Mountain Lions in the first two sets, but the team was able to pull through in a closely met final three sets with the scores ending at, 22-25, 15-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-13.

After falling to the Cougars in the first two sets, Raelynn Edge entered as the primary setter and helped lead the team to victory with 25 assists in the final three sets.  Edge proved to be a force to be reckoned with adding nine digs and two blocks defensively.  Lauren Brown and Taylor Smith combined 20 kills of the team's 53.  Smith also helped Jordyn Kinsey on defense with 13 digs and Kinsey with 21.

UCCS was evenly matched with both the Cougars and Mountain Lions having an attacking percentage of .196.  Jasa Scheierman and Kristy Dick from CCU had a combined 28 assists of the teams 53.

Next week the Mountain Lions go on the road to face Adams State University in Alamosa, Colo. at 7 p.m. Friday night. The next evening the Mountain Lions will be in Durango, Colo. at 5 p.m. as they go head to head with Fort Lewis College.
