COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The second ranked team in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings shutout the University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team Saturday afternoon at Mountain Lion Park. UCCS (17-20, 13-12 RMAC) fell to Colorado Christian University (26-9, 19-3 RMAC), 5-0 and 7-0.
In the series opener, the Cougars posted two runs to take an early lead in the second inning from a two-run home run from Carly Perry. The Cougars plated one more run in the fifth inning while stranding two runners but added two insurance runs in the seventh inning to seal the win, 5-0.
The Mountain Lions were held to four hits in the series opener.

Taylor Reidhead,
Rayle Glover and
Payton Romines each connected with the ball for singles.
Reidhead went the distance, allowing five runs on nine hits and sitting down eight batters.
The second game saw the Mountain Lions collect five hits as Cook,
Peyton Reisman, Reidhead, Glover and
Amanda Nobles reached base.
Trailing 6-0 in the sixth inning and down to one out, Reidhead reached third base on a single to right field and advanced to the corner on a fielding error, but the Mountain Lions were unable to plate a run in the game.
Cami Duffey started in the circle and worked three and one-third innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits.
Braelyne Crenshaw entered in the fourth inning to close the game, surrendering three runs on five hits and fanning five batters.
Both teams will return to Mountain Lion Field for the final two games of the series, beginning at 11 a.m.
