ALAMOSA, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team recorded their second shutout in program history and notched a program record 28 goals Friday afternoon at Adams State University in a 28-0 victory.
Five Mountain Lions recorded hat tricks as UCCS improved to 4-6 on the season and 2-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Grizzlies drop to 0-8 overall and 0-4 in the RMAC.
Thirteen Mountain Lions found the back of the net Friday afternoon behind hat tricks from
Natalie Church,
Kiera Lowe and
Kyer Frederick in the first half. Ellis scored the first two goals of the game while Church tallied three of her four goals in the first half. Lowe posted a natural hat trick within six minutes of action, while all three of Frederick's goals were in the first 30 minutes.
UCCS took a 17-0 lead at halftime and were working on a running clock after O'Hern's goal with 17:17 left in the first stanza.
Church paced UCCS with four goals, three assists, six shots and 17 draw controls. Lowe chipped in two assists as part of her six points, while Corrigan matched Church for a game high three assists.
Defensively,
Ellie O'Brien caused four turnovers and picked up five ground balls.
Kenney Travis earned the win between the posts, making five saves in 30 minutes.
Emma Becker closed the game in goal, posting two saves.
UCCS out-shot the Grizzlies 55-8 and snagged 36 ground balls while winning 20 of the 29 draw controls.
The Mountain Lions will travel to Durango, Colo. to take on Fort Lewis College on Sunday at 12 p.m.
