COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team played host to No. 11 University of Tampa Monday afternoon at Mountain Lion Stadium. The visiting Spartans handed the Mountain Lions a 16-4 setback in below freezing temperatures.

Angela Naughton in the 11
th minute to put UCCS (1-3) on the scoreboard. With eight minutes left in the first half, Naughton connected with
Madison Ellis to cut into Tampa's 7-2 lead.
The 11
th ranked Spartans rattled off the next seven goals to take their largest lead of the game, 14-2. Naughton answered with back-to-back goals in the second half, finding the back of the net with 17:08 left in regulation and again at 14:43.
Naughton, who had a hand in all four goals for UCCS, attempted a team high five shots.
Ellie O'Brien added a team high four ground balls while Naughton and
Natalie Church each won five draw controls.
Goalkeeper
Emma Becker played the first 20 minutes in goal, making one save.
Kennedy Travis finished the game protecting the goal with seven saves.
The Spartans Kayla Kosubinsky scored three goals and added an assist. All three of Kristyn Staley's goals came in the first half to help UT to a 12-2 halftime lead.
UCCS was outshot by the Spartans, 40-13. Both teams each won 11 draw controls while the Mountain Lions were successful on 12-of-16 clear attempts.
The Mountain Lions will travel to Shawnee, Okla. on Saturday, March 9. UCCS will take on Oklahoma Baptist University at 10 a.m. (MT).
