COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – In their second home game of the weekend, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team notched their fourth consecutive win with an 80-45 win over Chadron State inside Gallogly Events Center.
The Mountain Lions (12-11, 11-6 RMAC) were backed by
Chelsea Pearson's 21 points as she shot 60% from beyond the arc with six three-pointers.
Jae Ferrin came to register 18 points of her own, as
Madi Gaibler and
Tatum Tellin bagged eight and nine rebounds, respectively. Clean basketball has been the name of the game for UCCS as they have strayed away from forcing shots, and have spread out the ball to create open shots.
Kelly O'Flannigan's seven assists helped spread the floor offensively as every Mountain that got into the game found the bottom of the net.
The first quarter set the tone for the Mountain Lions as they shot lights out with a 57.9 field goal percentage and jumped out to a 17-point lead with a score of 25-8. The Eagles hung around in the second and third quarter, but the Mountain Lions continued to hold onto that double-digit lead into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, UCCS came to bust the doors open as they tallied 24 points, compared Chadron's six points. The Mountain Lions continued to push floor and shoot the ball well, shooting 66.7% from the field and out-rebounding the Eagles 46-35 to finish out the game.
As a team, UCCS finished with a 46.2 field goal percentage while the Mountain Lion bench contributed 29 points to their 35-point win.
UCCS will carry their four game win streak into next weekend as they play host to Colorado State University-Pueblo on Friday, Feb. 15 at 5:30 p.m.
