Men’s Basketball Grounded by Cowboys, 119-86

LAS VEGAS, N.M. – Heading into tonight's Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team was tied with New Mexico Highlands University for third place in the conference standings, but the Cowboys handed UCCS a 119-86 loss Friday night from John Wilson Complex in Las Vegas, N.M.
 
The loss is the third straight for UCCS as they move to 12-8 overall and 9-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  NMHU remains undefeated at home and improve to 15-5 (10-4 RMAC).
 
Brandon Malone led the Mountain Lions offense with 19 points.  Fifteen of his points came from behind the arc as he accounted for five of UCCS' nine three-pointers. 
 
Padiet Wang made 4-of-6 from the floor and 8-of-9 free throws for 17 points.  He chipped in four rebounds and three dimes.  Isaiah Wilson came off the bench to record 16 points, two assists while making all four free throw attempts.  Dalton Walker also came off the bench to post 11 points and seven rebounds.
 
UCCS trailed by 15 points at the half, 62-47, and by as many as 39 points in the game. 
 
NMHU was hot from the floor, making nearly 64 percent of their field goals (46-of-72) and 55.6 from downtown (20-of-36).  The Cowboys' Jordan Jones scored a game high 29 points.
 
The Mountain Lions will travel to Pueblo, Colo. to take on the ThunderWolves Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
