Four Mountain Lions Score in Double Digits in Overtime Loss at SFU

BURNABY, BC – Four University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball players scored in double digits Friday night, but the Mountain Lions fell short in an overtime loss at Simon Fraser University, 81-79.

Makenna Baker came in clutch in the end of regulation and overtime to lead UCCS with 19 points.  She nailed a layup with 14 seconds in regulation to boost the Mountain Lions lead to three points, 66-63, but the Clan's Jessica Jones drilled a three-pointer with nine seconds remaining in regulation to send the game in overtime.

In the extra stanza, Baker scored nine points behind three field goals and three free throws.  With two ticks left on the clock, Baker went 2-for-2 from the free throw line to tie the game at 79 all, but a foul by UCCS sent Ozioma Nwabuko to the line where she made both attempts to give SFU the 81-79 win.

Abby Feickert chipped in 18 points for UCCS after making 6-of-9 from the floor.  Twelve of Chelsea Pearson's 15 points came from long range as she added eight rebounds to tie Feickert for team high honors.  Madi Gaibler knocked in 15 points to round out the Mountain Lions scoring in double figures.

UCCS shot 44.8 percent from the floor (30-of-67) and 72.2 percent from the free throw line (13-of-18).

Jones led all scorers with 32 points, 18 which were scored from behind the arc.

The Mountain Lions will play at Western Washington University Saturday night at 8 p.m.
