COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs Mountain Lions (11-13, 9-7 RMAC) won Saturday night in an action packed 5-set match against the Chadron State College Eagles (13-10, 7-8 RMAC). The Eagles came out strong winning the first match, but UCCS picked up momentum in sets two and three. Match four was neck and neck the entire way with seven ties, but ultimately CSC pulled off the set win. The final set had three ties and one lead change resulting in a 3-2 win for the Mountain Lions (19-25, 25-21, 25-21, 20-25, 15-13).
Hannah Ammerman and
Lauryn Shockley could not be stopped on offense with 35 of the team's 68 kills. Shockley achieved 21 kills, a match high for five sets.
Raelynn Edge set the ball 133 times reached a match high with 47 assists.
Timmi Keisel and Chandler Hageman proved to be vital for the Eagles, both having over .400 hitting percentage. But Mountain Lions defense held them off with five players reaching double digits in digs on the backline.
Jordyn Kinsey and
Lauryn Shockley each had match highs for digs with 28 and 19, respectively.
The Mountain Lions will hit the road one final time for conference play next weekend and play Western State Colorado University and Colorado Mesa University on Nov. 8-9.
