Men's Soccer falls to Regis 2-3 on Senior Night.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer dropped a heartbreaker to Regis University friday night in overtime. In a very physical Senior Night game, UCCS fell to Regis by a score of 2-3.

UCCS (5-9-1, 4-8-0 RMAC) battled Regis (10-5-1, 9-3-0 RMAC) in an attempt to get a win for the seniors in their final home game at Mountain Lion Stadium. Regis outshout UCCS 20-10 including 8-3 in shots on goal. Alex VonHolle led the offense for UCCS with 4 shots including one shot on goal. Liam McGuire and Adam Baldwin followed suit with two shots each as McGuire tallied a shot on goal.

In the first half, Regis was able to string some passes together and take the lead as Ben Shepherd scored the go-ahead goal in the 34th minute. The rivalry between these teams was on full display as Shepherd received a yellow card for taunting the UCCS bench after his goal, and the half would end with the score 1-0 Regis.

The second half was very exciting as both teams showed how much they wanted this win. UCCS scored the first goal of the half as McGuire scored the equalizer off an assist from VonHolle. Two minutes later, UCCS earned a penalty kick and VonHolle was able to score the penalty goal to give UCCS a 2-1 lead.

In the 77th minute, the momentum shifted as Ervin Scarlett received a red card for committing a handball in the box, which gave Regis a penalty opportunity. The PK paid dividends as Regis' Jean Carre was able to get the shot passed Scott Jensen to make the score 2-2 and effectively send the game into overtime.

In overtime, Regis was able to score the game winning goal as Carre got behind the UCCS back line in the 97th minute, giving Regis the 3-2 victory.

The Mountain Lions are back in action on Sunday, November 3 as they will be on the road in South Dakota taking on South Dakota School of Mines. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
