SALT LAKE CITY, Utah –
Josie Russell led the University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball to a road sweep over Westminster College on Saturday inside Behnken Field House. The Mountain Lions dominated the Griffins in straight sets, -13, -17, -22.
Saturday's road win improved the Mountain Lions record to 7-10 on the season and 5-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Westminster falls to 3-14 on the season and remain winless in league matches at 0-9.
Josie Russell pounded the ball against Westminster, registering 14 kills on 25 attempts and committing only one error for a stellar .520 hitting percentage. Russell's 14 kills were the most by any Mountain Lion in a three-set match this season.
Hannah Ammerman supplemented the offense with eight kills, as
Lauren Brown and
Grace Nelson each chipped in seven kills.
Raelynn Edge orchestrated the offense with 24 set assists. She added three aces and dug up eight attacks.
Jordyn Kinsey controlled the back row with 18 digs while taking on 10 serve receptions.
As a team, UCCS hit a solid .309 with 48 kills, the second most by the Mountain Lions in three sets.
UCCS will return home Oct. 18-19 to play host to New Mexico Highlands University and Colorado State-Pueblo.
