Box Score Colorado Springs, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball swept New Mexico Highlanders University Cowgirls (1-17, 0-10 RMAC) Friday night in the Gallogly Events Center. The Mountain Lions came out strong and dominated the first set. The final set between the two teams was closer as each team went back and forth on points, but ultimately UCCS was able to pull through for the win resulting in 25-14, 25-16, 25-22 match.
The Mountain Lions (8-10, 6-4 RMAC) had a strong defensive game keeping the Cowgirls to a .071 hitting percentage.
Lauryn Shockley protected the net all night achieving four blocks, coming close to her season high of five.
Lauren Brown and
Josie Russell both had a strong offensive match.
Lauren Brown made seven kills on 11 attempts with only one error making her attack percentage .545.
Josie Russell had eight kills with an attack percentage of .462. Russell also had four block assists for the match.
Taley Ferrari led the NMHU offensive with a .286 attack percentage, but UCCS' strong defense proved to be too much for the Cowgirls.
UCCS volleyball is back at it again tomorrow night at 5 p.m. as they take on CSU-Pueblo.
