Men’s Basketball Falls to Hot Shooting Roadrunners, 93-81

DENVER, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team fell on the road Saturday night to the MSU Denver Roadrunners, 93-81.  The loss moves the Mountain Lions to 12-7 on the season and 9-4 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games.  MSU Denver improves to 8-9 overall (6-7 RMAC).
 
UCCS led MSU Denver 8-6 less than four minutes into the first half, but the Roadrunners went on a 13-5 run as the Mountain Lions would trail MSU Denver the remainder of the game.
 
The Mountain Lions shot a solid 46.7 percent from the floor (28-of-60) and 44.1 percent from long range (15-of-34), but the Roadrunners bested UCCS in shooting, hitting 52.6 percent in field goals (30-of-57) and 52 percent from long range (13-of-25).
 
Five Mountain Lions scored in double figures tonight with Brandon Malone leading UCCS' offensive attack after netting 21 points.  Malone hit 8-of-15 field goals, including five from downtown.
 
DaRaun Clark and Padiet Wang each scored 15 points and dished out two assists.  Clark made 5-of-12 field goals and 3-of-8 from behind the arc, while Wang sank 4-of-8 from the floor and all six free throw attempts.
 
Blend Avdili notched 13 points and nine rebounds.  He made 3-of-4 three-pointers and added three dimes and two steals.  Isaiah Wilson came off the bench to sink 10 points, six of which came from behind the arc.
 
Druce Asah scored a game high 22 points.  Kendal McIntosh tallied 16 points and 11 rebounds in the Roadrunners win.
 
The Mountain Lions will travel to New Mexico Highlands University next Friday, Feb. 1, and Colorado State-Pueblo on Saturday, Feb. 2.
