Volleyball Faces No. 15 Regis University

DENVER – Facing the 15th ranked team in Division, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs lost a 3-1 decision Saturday evening at Regis University.  The loss moves UCCS to 2-8 on the season and 0-2 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matches.  RU improves to 5-5 and 1-1 in league matches.
 
UCCS edged the Rangers in the first set, 25-23, but fell in the following three sets, -23, -21 and -18.
 
The Mountain Lions hit .228 in the match, marking their third best attack percentage of the season.  Three Mountain Lions tallied at least 10 kills.  Alyssa Brinton paced UCCS with 14 kills and a .290 hitting mark.  She was one dig short of a double-double.
 
Hannah Ammerman added 12 kills, followed by Lauren Brown's 10 kills on 26 attempts for a .346 attacking percentage.
 
Jordyn Kinsey, who served two of the Mountain Lions six aces, led both teams with 19 digs. 
 
Raelynn Edge chipped in 45 assists, six digs, four kills and one ace.
 
Maren Burkhart finished with four kills and assisted on four blocks.  As a team, UCCS tallied eight blocks, the second most block total this season.
 
The Rangers were led by Nikki Kennedy and Caitlyn Burroway, recording 16 kills each.
 
The Mountain Lions will open their home season on Tuesday, Sept. 11 against Colorado School of Mines at 7 p.m.
