COLORADO SPRINGS – Dixie State University entered Gallogly Events Center Saturday night and snapped the University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team's five match winning streak. The Mountain Lions fell in four sets to the Trailblazers (21-25, 25-19, 17-25, 16-25).
UCCS moves to 7-10 overall and 5-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Trailblazers improve to 12-3 overall and 7-1 in conference play.
In the second set of the match,
Alyssa Brinton accounted for four of UCCS' 13 kills, committing only one error on nine attempts (.333 hitting mark).
Lauren Brown and
Hannah Ammerman each notched three kills in the set while defensively
Taylor Smith and
Aly Morgan dug up four attacks each.
The Mountain Lions finished the match hitting at a .082 clip and posting 48 kills. Brinton led both teams with 15 kills.
Grace Nelson added 11 kills and hit .161 for the match.
Raelynn Edge ran the offense with 43 assists to go with six digs and four kills.
Jordyn Kinsey posted a team high 13 digs. Morgan and Smith combined for 21 digs.
DSU blocked the Mountain Lions 13 times. Lauren Gammell and Shannon Sorensen assisted on six blocks and teammate Miranda Marshal added five block assists.
UCCS will travel to Colorado State-Pueblo on Oct. 5, and New Mexico Highlands University on Oct. 6.
