PUEBLO, Colo. – For the fourth time in the last seven matches, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team swept their opponent as the Mountain Lions earned a 3-0 win Friday night at Colorado State University-Pueblo. UCCS defeated the Pack by set scores of 25-23, 25-16 and 25-18.
The win also marked the Mountain Lions sixth win in seven matches as they improve to 8-10 overall and 6-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The loss sets the Pack back to 4-15 overall (2-8 RMAC).
UCCS used a balanced offense to finish with 42 kills and a .264 hitting percentage.
Alyssa Brinton paced the Mountain Lions with 10 kills to go with her three aces and three digs.
Josie Russell chipped in nine kills and assisted on three blocks.
Lauren Brown and
Lauryn Shockley added eight kills each. Five of Shockley's kills came in the opening set.
Raelynn Edge accounted for 38 of the Mountain Lions 40 assists.
Defensively,
Aly Morgan contributed 13 digs and
Jordyn Kinsey chipped in 11 as the Mountain Lions dug up 43 attacks.
The Pack's Brooke Schilling led both teams with 12 kills. Sarah Vang added 10 kills and hit .400 offensively.
UCCS will travel to New Mexico Highlands University on Oct. 6. First serve against the Cowgirls will go out at 6 p.m.
